The Christian Drouin Calvados House was founded immediately after the Second World War by Christian Drouin, who had set himself the goal of producing the world’s absolute best calvados.

Christian Drouin is one of the few producers who make a positive impact on the environment. With its many apple trees and more than 35 different apple varieties, Christian Drouin absorbs 600 tonnes of CO₂ a day.

In contrast, production ‘costs’ only 200 tonnes – per year. Here, cows roam amongst the trees, and they’re clever enough to know that if they shake the trees, apples will fall. The good thing is that it’s the bad apples that fall and become the cows’ food. In other words, the cows help ensure that the apples used in production are healthy, sound and tasty. At the same time, the cows also eat the grass amongst the trees, thereby making mowing unnecessary. A win-win situation. The apple varieties are primarily local, Norman varieties with a fair amount of tannins. Meanwhile, Christian Drouin is nothing less than the world’s most award-winning spirits producer across all categories.
